21st September 1991 - a date firmly fixed in music history. Ministry of Sound, inspired by New York’s cavernous House venues, opened its doors at 10:00 PM. Raised from what was once a bustling bus garage, the world’s first ever club with a dedicated room built purely for sound. Eighteen years on, Ministry of Sound is the world’s most famous nightclub and the world’s largest independent record label, with hundreds of hits, over 50 million album sales of over 50 million and events attended over 900,000 people per year. In 2000, Ministry of Sound also became the first music brand to hold an event at the Millennium Dome. Over 56,000 people made it a New Year’s Eve to remember! New Year’s Eve 2009 sees Ministry of Sound returning to ‘The Dome’ with a 15,000 capacity event at the O2 Arena, featuring live performances from Calvin Harris and Deadmau5.
